Back at the Barking Wall Spider

Back at the Barking Wall Spider Tavern in Happy Hollow, our heroes Kurt and Iain reshash the events from the day before.

Kurt returned the jewels to the owner and was paid 30 gold pieces. 8 pieces went to the darwves for helping out and 3 went to the doctor for healing Iain.

Inside the Barking Wall Spider Tavern

The distinguished gentleman next to our table overheard us talking about our success and was curious to know if we could help him out. He explained that when he was young, beings came into his house and stole a family treasure. His great great great great great grandfather had acquired this piece from a crusade against the Orcs. He heard rumors that this treasured artifact is in the lands somewhere around Happy Hollow.

I asked, "What is it?"

The gentleman answered, " a carved wood tribal mask."

Iain: "That's it?"

Gentleman: "That's it. I'll pay a 100 gold pieces to each of you if you can bring it back to me. Start off visiting Pete's Creek - the first clue should be there. Good Luck - you'll need it."

Iain: "Since we can't do anything until tomorrow, let go checkout the Bawdy House."

I decide it's going to take 6 clues to find the Carved Wood Tribal Mask.

Jewelry Snatch

That evening Iain and I with the four dwarves made our way to the manor house to snatch the jewelry. We entered through a side door.

Approaching the manor house

The first floor had for rooms.

Entering the first room

First Room - Servants
Second Room - Empty
Third Room - room guards
Fourth Room-  more guards

After a short struggle, we were able to take out the guard in the third room. However Iain was knocked out by one of the Guards.

Iain should have ducked. OOF = Out Of Fight.

We encountered more guards in the fourth room and easily took them out.

We discovered 45 gold pieces from searching the rooms and acquired armor and food from the guards.

The upstairs had four more rooms. We encountered more servants in the first room entered. They revealed that the jewelry piece we were looking for was in the next room over.

In the next room we were jumped by 4 guards, but they quickly surrendered when they saw they were out numbered.  We got the jewelry piece and acquire 22 more gold.

4th Room - They were no match for us!

Before leaving the house we got Iain and dragged him out of there. Although Iain was wounded the encounter was still a success. We'll need to get Iain patched up so we headed back to town in search of a healer.

The dwarf leader decided to leave the group. Hanging out with us wasn't for him.

Dwarves

"You two characters are just the type I need to help me out," said the Nobleman. "I need a certain piece of jewelry recovered from a Mrs. Fourneaux. I will pay a 100 gold pieces."

I told him he had a deal but we will need to hire some help.  "Once we get the jewelry piece we'll get back to you."

"Here's the location of the manor and the floor plan."

The Nobelman offers us a job.
We needed to get some help in order to pull off this job. Iain mentioned the Thieves Guild. We proceeded to enter the poor area part of town when we ran into a group of dwarves. They were willing to join and help us recover the piece of jewelry, with payment in return of course. I figured these guys were going to be a lot more reliable than a group of thieves.

4 neutral dwarves join our group

"Let's get out of here. We'll raid Mrs. Fourneaux's manor tomorrow, under the cover of darkness."

"Give me some sugar, baby..."

I was about ready to tell Iain about my unusual customer the other day....

"Hold that thought," Iain says to me.

A fair maiden stands alone in the corner of the tavern .  Iain buys her a Blackberry Cordial.

"Give me some sugar, baby!"

Mr. Hancock has interesting taste in women.
"Sorry, I don't have any sugar Mister..."

Iain comes back to where I was sitting. "As I was saying...."

After finishing our meals we leave the tavern to head back to our rooms for the night.  A con artist was waiting for us outside but did not get anything from us.

Some other character approached us and wanted to barter, but we had nothing to trade for.

The next person we meet on the street is a wealthy merchant with a body guard.

I must have said something he didn't like because he ordered his body guard to attack. The wealthy gentleman disappeared behind a building.

Before his weapon could make contact with me, I hit him with my sword and he went down.
I searched his body and found some food and 3 pieces of gold.

"I just saw what happened here." A voice came from around the corner of a building. "How would you like to do some work for me?" said the nobleman.

A nobleman and his two body guards appear.
